We’re an Australian-based company that makes nourishing soups, teas and spice blends for postpartum mums. They’re like a high-five for your soul.
We started with Confinement.
In Chinese culture, postpartum care is kind of a big deal. It’s called ‘Confinement’: a whole month where new mums can recuperate and recharge on a special diet, sometimes with a live-in nanny to help around the house. It’s a family affair. A community of support that rallies around a new mum. The idea of confinement food is to eat fewer ‘cool’ foods (ice-creams for example, even the strawberry ones) and more ‘warm’ foods like soups, spices and root veggies to nourish and replenish.
Then we found Ingrid.
Hey Ingrid swoops in to take the place of a proper Confinement nanny, with a bowl of soup in one hand and a cup of tea in the other. Our products are designed to nourish new mums through their postpartum lives. Each one is packed with good things – real ingredients like goji berries, black beans and turmeric – and most are made for more than one person (share the love – that’s our motto).
We were inspired by Confinement, but we didn’t restrict ourselves to just Chinese flavours (Jamaican chickpea stews and Indian dals are pretty awesome too). Every soup or stew sachet is designed to be very easy to use with foolproof instructions. In fact the first step’s pretty easy. Pop the kettle on.
From the very start, we wanted to empower all mums. Everywhere. That’s why each time you place an order, we’ll send one birthing kit to a new mother in the developing world, thanks to our friends at the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia). It’s our #kitgiving promise, and it’s more sacred than a pinky swear.
