Right from the start, we knew we wanted Hey Ingrid to be about more than soups and teas, no matter how yum they were. We wanted to empower all mums. Everywhere. That’s why each time you place an order, we’ll fund one birthing kit for an expectant mother in the developing world, thanks to our friends at the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia). It’s our #kitgiving promise, and it’s more sacred than a pinky swear.
Not every birth is equal
…but they should be. The W.H.O estimates that over 300,000 women die during childbirth every year, most of them in developing countries like Uganda and Nigeria, countries with poor access to basic sanitation and infrastructure. Infection is often the cause, and it’s something that can be prevented with a simple birthing kit.
What’s a birthing kit?
Good question. Birthing kits are pretty simple. They include a plastic sheet for the mother to lie on, gloves and soap for clean hands, a scalpel and string for the umbilical cord and gauze to wipe the baby’s eyes and the mother’s perineum. They’re made and distributed all over the world by our partners at the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia).
Join our #kitgiving movement
Of course you do, you little world-changer. And the good news is, it’s quite easy. You can donate any time to the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia). Or simply buy any Hey Ingrid product. We’ll donate funds on your behalf to the BKFA for every order we receive.
