Ah, the humble fennel seed. Actually he’s not that humble. We heard him bragging about aiding digestion and boosting lactation with his aniseed-y powers. Bit of a show-off really.

An aromatic and flavourful herb that doesn’t just taste good but is also well-known for its medicinal values. Add a pinch of these seeds into your cooking to receive a healthy dose of vitamin C, potassium, manganese, iron, folate and fiber.

How can Fennel Seed help?

  • Similar to its herb-ling Fenugreek, Fennel Seeds are powerful in relieving digestive problems such as indigestion, bloating, flatulence, constipation, colic, intestinal gas, heartburn and even irritable bowel
  • help nursing mothers produce more breast milk
  • When breastfeeding, Fennel Seeds also help newborns with their digestion and relieve symptoms of colic
  • flush out toxins and excess bodily fluids
  • Drinking Fennel seeds in a tea can also reduce the risk of urinary tract problems
  • Munching on its raw form will give you that minty fresh breath especially after a hearty meal

Directions: To make a tea, lightly crush 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds with the back of a tablespoon. Mix the powder with 1 cup of boiling water and add honey for sweetness. Sip and say ‘Ahhh…’.

Serving suggestion: Grind up fennel seeds for a zingy addition to curries and pork dishes, or just snack on them raw.
